I worked with a buyer on a home purchase last week. The buyer has not transacted in real estate for approx 13 years (about double the national average).
Both he and his wife were very surprised by the amount of paperwork I had to complete.
They both commented that the last time they bought a home there wasn’t nearly this much paperwork. I took this as a clear signal to go slow and be careful to walk my clients through all the details of what’s involved.
In their words they felt like ‘first time home buyers.’ This was a good reminder for me to always gauge my clients level of recent real estate experience and adjust my process to their comfort level.
