Have you heard the radio ads here in Barrie that gently poke fun at people who try to buy or sell real estate without using a REALTOR? I find them amusing. I know, all of you are thinking this will be a totally biased blog about the benefits of using a licensed sales representative to help you with your transaction.
Well, YOU’RE RIGHT! I haven’t always been a Sales Representative. I worked behind the scenes in real estate in Barrie for nine years before I got my license. I’ve listened to many success stories and disastrous situations from REALTORS and clients. There are always exceptions to every norm, but I honestly feel that, all things being equal, the client has a better experience when they enlist the help of a sales representative, whether it be to Buy or Sell.
REALTORS are bound to the REALTOR Code. They are bound by a code of ethics to do the right thing for their client.
REALTORS are knowledgeable about positive and negative developments in real estate. They have access to the best information and can help pinpoint or explain comparable prices, trends and market conditions.
REALTORS are constantly being educated. Sales Reps and Brokers are on a constant cycle of updating their knowledge with professional courses and workshops. You can be assured that the education is current.
REALTORS have access to the market. Sales Reps have access to all the information on their local real estate board and can get information from other boards often faster and more accurate than what the consumer sees on Realtor.ca or other websites.
REALTORS are trained in offer negotiation, problem solving, marketing, and a host of other sales related skills. They have peers to consult with, managers to get support from. They work closely with respected lawyers, home inspectors and mortgage brokers to ensure the best possible outcome for their client. Why not use the services of someone who is trained to get you the results that you want?
