Most people are rather wary letting people into their homes. Who wants to get a sales pitch in their own home and have to deal with aggressive sales tactics? It’s YOUR sanctuary, for goodness sake. Some people have a hard time saying no or they get confused by jargon and numbers and think it is a great deal. That is the exact effect this person intended to have. Well, for those who allow water heater sales people into their home, there are new laws to protect consumers from shady deals and pushy people.
- The cooling off period is increased from 10 days to 20 days.
- There is to be NO delivery of water heaters during the 20 days.
- The supplier must reimburse the customer for all cancellations, returns or removal fees.
- The Government is also given extra authority to make regulations regarding conduct and agreement content.
You have rights as a consumer and throwing up your hands when a deal goes sour with ANY door to door salesperson is not the best option.
