Did you see a flurry of emails around July 1 from businesses asking you to agree to receive their newsletters? Good. Do you know WHY you suddenly received all those emails? Did you read them and consent/decline or did you just DELETE them?
In case you missed it, there is new Anti-Spam Legislation that regulates the use of email, text messages and newsletters used for marketing. Basically, as long as you, the consumer, are in a business relationship with someone, have requested information or have given consent to receive information, then business people and companies are able to send you marketing updates. These emails and newsletters must have an ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ button somewhere or a way to change your mind. It’s all up to you, the consumer, and what you allow us to send you.
So, have a look at the next email or newsletter you receive. Do you want to receive it? If not, simply hit Unsubscribe or let the sender know you’re no longer interested. It should be as simple as that!
Feel free to leave a comment or call us with any questions you might have. We’d love to hear from you!
