Do you have a Carbon Monoxide Detector in your home? Perhaps you’ve heard about the new legislation that was passed earlier this week? Carbon Monoxide detectors are now mandatory in every home and there could be a hefty fine if you fail to comply. I found an article in the Ottawa Citizen that explains it nicely, so have a look…http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/carbon-monoxide-alarms-now-mandatory-in-ontario-homes.
This is a positive step and something that everyone, not just Realtors, needs to pay attention to. It’s heartbreaking when a family dies simply because they didn’t realize their house was filling with carbon monoxide. I’ve had a detector in my home for the past 10 or 12 years now, but I’ll be heading out this weekend to buy a new one. I might even invest in a combination carbon monoxide/smoke detector. It’s a good idea to replace smoke detectors on a regular basis, so there’s no time like the present for peace of mind!
For more information, I encourage you to check out the local Barrie Fire Department website.
