We just received our September Real Estate Update from our Barrie and District Real Estate Board.  I always enjoy looking at these numbers because it helps me to put this business into perspective!

The first number that catches my attention is that there were 445 home sales in September, marking a 15.9% increase over September 2013.  Not bad!  That number is for Barrie and the surrounding areas, where the average sale price of a home is currently $339,952, up 6.2% over last year at this time.

Now, looking just at Barrie, we had sales of 248 residential homes in September 2014, which is up 9.7% over last year.  You can see there is quite a lot of activity in places like Angus, Oro-Medonte and Springwater.  Barrie’s average home sale price is $319,522, which is an increase of 6.1% over last year at this time.

September 2014 marked a fifth consecutive double-digit year-over-year increase in new listings for sale and set a record for the month.  Not bad for a year that seemed to get off to a slow start thanks to our longer than expected winter!
