I’m generally a positive person but there have been a number of factors to support why the 3rd Monday in January is such a BLUE day for people.
Here’s what is on my mind today: Musician David Bowie, actor Alan Rickman, and Celine Dion’s husband Renee Angelil have all passed away this week, with another musician, Lemmy Kilmister, a few weeks ago. We’ve just heard about a second barn fire that has taken the lives of even more treasured horses. The loonie has just dipped UNDER .69 cents, and the TSE is already down 3% this morning.
As much as many of us enjoy that the snow has finally arrived, it makes it harder for those with mobility issues to get around or even to just leave the house. The days are short, food prices are going up, and we’re hunkering down for the possibility of freezing rain later today. It’s hard to stay positive sometimes!
Blue Monday is a very real thing, and even though we can’t avoid January 18, there are some ways we can make the most of it. It’s easy to let ourselves get into a funk. Why not make a plan? Call a friend, go for a walk, find an excuse to be outside getting fresh air. Make an effort to eat healthy. Sometimes what we eat hampers our efforts to feel upbeat! Turn up the radio, grab that book you’ve been meaning to read, take a hot bath, get lots of sleep. There are lots of little things we can do to take a break from the world and look after ourselves. I’m starting to look forward to my #BlueMonday, how about you?
