If you’ve lived in Barrie for a long time you’ll know that this has been an uncharacteristically mild winter. We haven’t had much snow and it has been so warm that Barrie’s annual ice fishing tournament, which is scheduled for this coming weekend, will not include actual fishing on the ice!
What does this mean for Barrie’s Real Estate market? It means John Weber and I are hustling our buns to keep up with the demand! In the past 7 days I have been busy showing newly listed properties to clients non-stop and John and I have gone on numerous listing appointments discussing the best time to enter the market. I had a look at the Barrie & District Association of REALTORS stats a few minutes ago and here’s what I found. In the past 7 days there have been 133 NEW residential listings come onto the market, there have been 49 Conditional Offers accepted, and 66 Offers have moved from Conditional to FIRM. Some of those conditional offers have had to compete with 8 or 9 other offers to be accepted, too! This is a really great time to be a Seller, but I’m positive that our list of Buyers wish there were more properties to choose from!
I saw some statistics the other day that talk about Real Estate Salespersons and Brokers. What I found particularly interesting is the pie chart that shows length of service for our current membership of Sales Representatives from all the different Brokerages across Canada: 35% of us have less than two years of Real Estate experience, and another 5% have between two & five years of experience. The positive message there is that we’re adding new personalities and skill sets to the workforce, but the negative is that a total of 40% of professional sales reps out there have very little hands on experience when it comes to helping you make what might be the biggest transaction of your life.
John and I have a combined 20 years of practical, hands-on experience in Barrie’s Real Estate Market. We love working with people and learning about this industry. We’re also not afraid of a little weather! We were out showing homes in yesterday afternoon’s mini blizzard, but it was great!
