We haven’t done our usual Tuesday Morning Real Estate Update for a little while now. I guess part of the reason for that is that the numbers seem to be the same every week, with double-digit new listings and triple-digit sales being reported each week. John and I decided it was time for a little update, so we have recorded two short videos for you. Have a look at these. The stats are complied from the Barrie & District Association of REALTORS.
There are so many factors that might tie in to these stats. New mortgage qualification rules, some higher mortgage rates, uncertainty about the economy, the domino effect of a lack of inventory, and rising house prices. We also typically see a slowing down of the market in general when we get into November and December.
It’s easy for us to wish that more home owners would list their homes for sale so that we would have more inventory, but we also understand that these Sellers then have to find something to Buy, and there is a lack of good inventory! Herein lies the problem.
How will this play out? Will we see a month with NO new inventory in Barrie, Springwater, Angus? What will the ‘winter’ season do to the market? These are all very good questions! It’s going to be interesting to see what the next few months have in store.
