We all know that Canada’s Birthday is coming up, because we all know July 1st is our annual celebration. What’s different about this year? Well, the City of Barrie certainly kicked off the long weekend in style with the Snowbirds last night! I hope you were one of the thousands of people who had a chance to get close enough to see the spectacular airshow last night.
This year the focus is on Canada reaching the 150 year milestone. Do you have plans for celebrating yet? Well, I’m sure a lot of it will depend on the weather, but if you’re still unsure about what you will do to celebrate, here are a couple of great websites to check out.
First, it’s Barrie’s annual Promenade Days, which starts tomorrow, June 30th. Dunlop St is closed to vehicles, stores have sidewalk sales and all the restaurant patios are open. There is entertainment and lots for families to get involved in. You’re sure to run into someone you know during Promenade Days!
If you want to know what’s happening on July 1st, have a look at the City Of Barrie website for their Canada Day page. The Family Fun Zone starts at 1:00 pm and is located at Heritage Park. Free musical entertainment starts at 4:00 pm at the Promenade Days stage on Dunlop St E. Fireworks are set to begin around 10:00, weather permitting of course. And I see that there is free Park N Ride service provided by Barrie Transit.
So, stop by Tim Horton’s for a special Roll Up The Rim coffee and head to Barrie’s vibrant waterfront to enjoy the day with friends and family! Maybe I’ll see you there!!
