We all know that Canada’s Birthday is coming up, because we
all know July 1st is our annual celebration. What’s different about this year? Well, the City of Barrie certainly kicked off the long weekend in style with the Snowbirds last night! I hope you were one of the thousands of people who had a chance to get close enough to see the spectacular airshow last night.
There is always a need for volunteers and donations at Simcoe County’s many charitable organizations. 
I subscribe to the Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie‘s on-line newsletter, and see that they are looking for some donations. Wouldn’t it be great if a bunch of us purchased a few of these items in this week’s grocery run! Donations for Women & Children go a long way. Here’s what it says:
To help us provide needed items for the women and children who use our services, we are in need of the following donations:
• grocery gift cards • baby formula (0-12 month) • bath towels • dish soap
• sippy cups for kids • kids bathing suits (size 3T/3X and up)
For hygienic and health and safety reasons
we accept donations of new items only.

Is Co-Housing for you? 
What is that, you say? Good question! In today’s real estate market, the price of detached homes is going through the roof. Our population is getting older, and our young 20-somethings are struggling to find their first home. Traditionally I’ve seen a lot of young adults move back in with their parents, or retired Moms and Dads moving in with their kids. Bungalows and 2 Storey homes are being retrofitted and renovated to take advantage of our new Second Suite rules so that the basement can be rented out. [Read more…]
